HEPASilent™ technology

Blueair's HEPASilent™ technology captures at least 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.1 microns in size, removes germs and delivers especially high performance and efficiency by combining electrostatic and mechanical filtration technologies. This combination, pioneered by Blueair, delivers high Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) with whisper-silent operation and high energy efficiency. In fact, a Blueair air purifier works so quietly that you can not only sleep next to it, you might even have to check to make sure it is switched on. And on its lowest setting, a Blueair air purifier uses less electricity than a lightbulb. 

Not only do our air purifiers capture harmful airborne viruses and bacteria, but our proprietary HEPASilent™ technology also removes germs.  

Two technologies make the difference

Blueair's HEPASilent™ and HEPASilent Ultra technologies use a combination of mechanical and electrostatic filtration to capture and remove harmful particles from indoor air; our technology is designed to specifically and strategically electrostatically charge particles at a very low current. This makes the particles adhere to the polypropylene fibers in the filter more easily due to electrostatic forces, which allows the use of a less dense filter, so more air can be pushed through with less noise and less energy. 

The lower filter density allowed by the stickiness of the charged particles also reduces clogging. Filtration remains at peak performance levels longer, with high efficiency and longer lasting performance.

How do air filters work?

In a Blueair filter, ultra-thin polypropylene fibers of different sizes and layers are interwoven to lock in particles. The filters capture larger particles like pollen, dust and pet dander as well as fine particles such as smoke.  

When the filter needs to be replaced (around every six months), just open the lid, take out the old filter and put the new one in. No screws, hooks or tools are needed. All done in less than a minute. An extra bonus is that Blueair filters don’t require additives or washing.
